Harold MacIntyre, Larry Coad & Before She Made Me Crawl

Folks, I’m happy to tell you that the fourth and final single from my upcoming record, Lost Country is being released THIS FRIDAY, October 20 ahead of the official album-release date, October 27.

Of the 10 mostly “lost” and forgotten songs we recorded for this record, Before She Made Me Crawl stands-out as the most familiar to you truly passionate Country music fans out there. If you’d never heard any of the songs on the album before, there’s a strong chance this one would sound like the closest to a “hit”. And for good reason - Harold MacIntyre had more than a regional hit with this beautiful country music song written by his friend, manager, bandmate and producer, Larry Coad. It’s a pleasure to sing and is one that deserves re-entry into the minds of country music fans everywhere.

A musician, producer, label owner and prolific songwriter who penned cuts and scored national chart hits for top Canadian artists like MacIntyre, Lucille Starr, Brent Williams, South Mountain, Ronnie Prophet, Redd Volkaert, Colin Butler, and from south of the border, the late Vernon Oxford, Larry Coad was a major player in the Canadian country music community in his day. Coad founded and operated, Burco Records and that’s the label that many of those cuts appeared on. Larry passed away November 21, 2012 at age 65 and left a lasting mark on Country music in Canada and beyond.

Sure, Larry Coad was the songwriter and it’s one that’s been cut many times by many artists but make no mistake - Before She Made Me Crawl is a Harold MacIntyre song. Far as I know, he’s still out there singing it to this day. It’s the opening track to Harold’s 1980 Burco Records release, ‘Area Code 705’ and safe to say, the signature song and biggest success for MacIntyre.

Harold ran among the top of the heap in his day. In 1981 he was named Big Country Award Winner as Top New Country Artist by RPM Magazine. MacIntyre was a Juno award nominee and is a member of the Nova Scotia Country Music Hall of Fame. He recorded for the Burco, Cheyenne, Kodiak, Diamond and, Audiograph labels. Harold MacIntyre and The Area Code 705 Band opened up for George Jones at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1982 and MacIntyre was also a guest on the Tommy Hunter Show. He even sang Before She Made Me Crawl on there back in 1981.
